You know it’s been warm, we all know its been a warm winter. But lets QUANTIFY just how warm, lets put it in perspective.
It’s pretty remarkable considering the record books go back to the 1800s in Atlanta. So far this is the warmest February on record.
We have an all time record for the earliest largest number of 70 degree or higher days so early in a calendar year. Twenty, and counting. It typically takes us well into March or even April to reach such a tally!
The normal or average high and low this time of year: 59 and 39*F.
We MAY end up with the WARMEST WINTER ON RECORD.
Our weather over the last month, winter and year is comparable to living in cities like Tampa Bay, Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas etc for comparable time periods! (see table below)
As a result spring sprung early and the plants show it:
A cold front will bring the weather and the calendar more in sync this weekend, in fact, frost or freeze is likely Sunday morning in parts of North Georgia. But then it warms up again, followed by more cool weather:
WE ARE NOT ALONE…
Dallas hitting 90 and a record number (12) of winter days of 80 or higher, and up north:
Atlanta like Florida or Texas and Chicago like winter in New Orleans. It’s wack!
