Officially the National Weather Service Winter Weather Advisory in effect until Noon for most of the Metro and 1pm NE suburbs in purple below:

The most widespread and heaviest precip does not make it in Atlanta until late afternoon with dry air evaporating much of the initial moisture before that for spotty very light amounts.

Temperatures not expected to change much during the day rising and falling at times as precipitation starts and stops and starts again, reaching max values of 32 NE and 42 SW at the end of the day. Just light rain for the big game tonight!

NOT a major ice storm, not widespread just ice accumulation of a Trace to LESS than a tenth of an inch possible in some areas, not everywhere. But of course any ice on untreated surfaces can be dangerous.

***So the path of least regret is to avoid non-essential driving today as we monitor the temperature and radar trends.***

I am always more worried when temps are <32F because 32 is both the freezing and melting point.

We can HOPE the dry air evaporates most of the precip as it tries to move in or that the temps rise above freezing by noon as most models show. Sleet (ice pellets) IF ANY won’t last long.

However, in the wedge with the “wet-bulb cooling effect” many times models are too warm too soon.
