HURRICANE-FORCE WINDS GETTING CLOSER TO THE NORTH CAROLINA OUTER BANKS AND COASTAL SOUTHEASTERN NORTH CAROLINA, A CAT 2.

Fluctuations of intensity up and down, down and up are frequent, normal and common in tropical storms and hurricanes.

This is just the beginning of a multi day weather event. It may take a week to get a full assessment as to how bad it was and where.

For Metro Atlanta it still looks like a non-factor as reflected in my on-going 5-day forecast on the radio, on our station webpage, streaming audio, and our WSB Radio APP.

Places like the NE Mountains, Athens and obviously Savannah will have the greater impacts. As stated by the National Weather Service office for Atlanta:
